Hello Winter Skin
Most of my clients have combination skin and in the cold weather the result is flakiness around the nose, tight skin on the forehead and cheekbones plus under eye circles.

BIG NEWS!

As of the second week of October 2012, MelliSPA will be relocating to Whitman, MA.! MelliSPA will be located in the center of town with much more space. Neighboring cute boutiques, famous eats and MaryLou's coffee.
We will have a grand-opening and also will be holding classes for the holidays on how to make your own Bath Bombs, Lip Balms and Solid Perfumes!! Classes will be posted shortly on the website.

It's Summer! Have you experienced a 1st degree burn?

Why: Too much sun exposure without the correct protection

What to do: immediately apply aloe care and cool cloths. Your body will feel sore and flu like without the head cold. Your skin in the burned area will feel hot and extremely sensitive to friction due to clothing and water (shower)

How to prevent: Wear protective clothing, if you feel the sun beaming down pick up a towel and cover your shoulders or legs. If you feel too hot, wet the towel and cool down while you protect.

A wide brim hat and SPF Protective clothing are light and breathable. Bring some shade, a large umbrella or easy up will do.

Organic Home Spray Recipe for Adults and Children

This morning when I woke the sun was beaming through my bedroom window and danced on my hard wood floor. After watching the suns comfort and good morning stretch I rolled off the covers and smiled..that's right,today is going to be a good day! My good days consist of getting things done then relaxing and today this means cleaning the house before my appointments at MelliSPA. Here is a wonderful,organic up-lifting home spray recipe you can make yourself. Enjoy the day!

Love your Lemongrass Home Spray
1~4oz bottle with sprayer cap
Distilled water or Spring water can also be used
Lemongrass Aromatherapy Oil~Organic

Add 8 drops of your Lemongrass Aromatherapy Oil to your 4oz bottle. Fill with distilled or spring water leaving a 1/2 inch of air space at the top.Apply cap,shake well and happy misting! You can mist this anywhere you please and also use more of your favorite oils. Get clever and try an Organic Children's Zen mist with Sweet Orange and Lavender. I like to mist my laundry while its warm before tucking it away in draws.

Today after finishing 5 facials I've noticed something. Can you guess what is causing irregular breakouts on the jaw and chin?


Awnser: Fish Oil!! It seems like everyone is taking supplements,excercising more and hydrating thier bodies with more water (well kind-of) Just keep in mind that if you have been taking over 500mg. of Fish Oil or Joint Supplement containing Fish Oil this may be the culpret to your abnormal breakouts.


Solution: Decrease the amount or days you are taking your fish oil supplement As anything, give your body time to adjust. (2 weeks) Drink lots of fluids and EAT your water such as 1 small apple is equivelent to 1 cup of water! Who knew?! Soups,water based low-sugar drinks,friuts and hydrating veggies like celery and cucumber.

Natural You DIY Winter Bath Beauty Blend

Winter Soothing Bath Blend
1/4 cup of dried Chamomile flowers
1 cup of dried Lavender blossoms
1 cup dried Fennel seeds
1 cup of dried Rose petals

Purpose: sooths dry,wind blasted skin.

Here we go: Place all herbs and petals in a natural muslin bag OR snip those old pantyhose at the ankle! Fill with your Winter Blend and tie,twist or knot the end. Run the blend under the heated bath water or rig your own holder with an elastic or string. You could always just let the blend "bob" in the bathwater with you. Anyway you choose, this is a great way to restore your winter skin,

I picked up a great green BOOK!!

Ok,Ok. Let me push aside my excitement and properly introduce myself. My name is Mellisa Rollins. I am a Licensed Esthetician (L.E) and after 6 years of working in the beauty industry just opened my own private practice. You can find me at MelliSPA in Avon,MA. After seeing the effects of harsh skincare regimen's or no-regimens at all, I felt I should share my experiences and knowledge with the lost and the interested.

Here's a start! I picked up this GREAT,GREAT book called The Green Beauty Guide By:Julie Gabriel
This book is full of rethinking your skincare and what you are truly pouring down the sink and then later in our mouths..yuck!
